Meet the Team

Heidi Bickerton
Practice Prinicpal

I qualified at Guys Hospital in 1982 and then went on to do my 2 year rotational post at the Westminster Hospital. I then travelled and worked in Cape Town, South Africa and after in a mining hospital for 18 months where I specialised in traumatic orthopaedics. Complex injuries were treated with innovative and progressive surgical techniques and we followed this with equally progressive rehabilitation regimes. On returning to London, I worked simultaneously in private practices as well as the Lister Hospital. During my time in London, I trained in Acupuncture and worked in Wimbledon in one of the first practices to offer it along side physiotherapy.

I moved to Gloucestershire in 1994, working as a clinical manager at a mixed NHS and private practice in Cheltenham. I also developed a sports injury clinic at the Winfield Private Hospital.

I relocated to Kent in 2000 and joined Romney Marsh Physiotherapy Centre becoming a partner in 2007. I now use my wide experience to treat all aspects of neuromusculoskeletal conditions and post-op orthopaedic conditions. I have a “hands-on” approach and use multiple manual therapy and soft tissue techniques. I combine this with kinesiology taping; assessing and correcting muscle imbalance, improving core stability and prescribing progressive exercise regimes to prevent recurrence. I have been practicing acupuncture for more than 20 years and use it as an adjunct for treating both acute and chronic conditions. I believe that explaining the mechanics of dysfunction improves the outcome of treatment, so it is crucial to educate patients to help themselves.

I am committed to providing a locally based patient centred service that supports the community of the Romney Marsh.

Fiona MacSween

After qualifying from Brunel University, West London in 2002, I began working at the Kent and Canterbury Hospital covering all aspects of Physiotherapy care including Respiratory, Neurology and Orthopaedics specialties. I then specialised within the Outpatients Department treating a variety of Neuromusculoskeletal cases which included Trauma, Orthopaedics, Paediatrics, Rheumatology and Chronic Pain. Concurrently I also worked in Sports as well as in Hydrotherapy for the Parkinson's Society.

My treatments incorporate all aspects of Physiotherapy including Manual and Exercise Therapy, Acupuncture for pain relief, Taping (including Kinesiology Taping) and Functional Rehabilitation. I employ a combined approach of all appropriate elements leading to effective patient management.

I joined Romney Marsh Physiotherapy Centre in the latter part of 2011 and am enjoying the patient centred approach to care that the Centre supports.

Ramandeep Singh

I have over 11 years of physiotherapy experience, since completing my training I have gained a wealth of experience in musculoskeletal manual therapy, acupuncture and exercise therapy. I completed a Master’s degree in 2008 from the University of East London which has enhanced my specificity in diagnosis and effectiveness of treatment programmes. I believe that in order to be successful in treating a person's symptoms, a holistic, person-centred approach is required, assessing and treating the body as a whole. In my assessment and treatment, I incorporate different manual techniques, acupuncture, taping and soft tissue techniques. I also use soft tissue and joint injection techniques on regular basis. I joined Romney Marsh Physiotherapy team in 2014 and I am grateful to be part of this amazing team.

Kartik Tewari

Having graduated in India in 2003, I worked in a multispecialty hospital for a couple of years primarily in the outpatients’ department and on the acute medical wards. I then returned to full time education in 2005 and enrolled myself for a Masters degree at the University of Southampton. After successfully completing it in 2007 I started working within the NHS. Initially this was at the Head Injury Unit in Bath. I then moved to Kent and although I started as a clinician I then gradually moved to becoming a manager with in the NHS. I have managed several services in Shepway and Ashford locality both in the community as well as managing therapies at the A&E and IDT at the William Harvey Hospital.

During this time, I have kept abreast with my clinical expertise by working at Spire St Saviours for five years until it shut down last year. Subsequently I joined the Ashford One and KIMS Hospital, Maidstone as an in-patient physiotherapist to continue with acute therapy work. I joined Romney Marsh Physiotherapy in October 2015 and currently work at clinics in New Romney as well as at Sandgate Road Surgery. My special interest lies in treating shoulder and knee injuries, and my treatment options include acupuncture for pain, normal movement patterns (Bobath concept), taping, manual and exercise therapy approaches.

In my leisure time I enjoy various sports, playing Kent League cricket at various levels, badminton and squash at club level.

Favourite quote and my strong belief:
“You treat a disease, you win, you lose. You treat a person, I guarantee you, you’ll win, no matter what the outcome.”
